A BRITISH oil tanker has been set on fire after being hit by Houthi rebels off the Yemen coast...

Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said on Friday that the 110,000-dwt Marlin Luanda (built 2018), which shipping databases show is owned by UK-based Oceonix Services, was the target of that attack.

a quick on look online - and watso cannot find confirmation of the ship being abandoned .. but did find this ..

The vessel’s operator, Trafigura, said a missile struck the fuel tanker Marlin Luanda, which is carrying Russian naphtha purchased below the price cap as specified by G7 sanctions, a company spokesperson said.

Firefighting equipment on board has being deployed to suppress and control the blaze, so far limited just one of the vessel’s main starboard cargo tanks.

“We remain in contact with the vessel and are monitoring the situation carefully,” the company said in a statement, adding military ships were underway to provide assistance.

guess that the russians got paid for the naptha - and the ship/cargo was fully insured ..

houthis have proven that they can hit ships with their missiles .. ie no ship is safe ..

and forget the narrative that the houthis are hindering international trade .. the americans do that all the time with their sanctions, seizing assets blah blah ..

it is wonderful that the houthis are doing their bit to put pressure on israel to stop the genocide/persecution of the palestinian peoples
