    Hi Snuff,

Regarding agricultural subsidies - fair point. However, I have always been concerned with Europe trying to grow sugar cane, or cotton, etc.

Regarding the 300-500 reference, that was taken from the artricle at p42 of The Australian:
"... A JP Morgan Chase survey of US firms .... estimated up to $US300 billion of $US500 billion in earnings could be brought back to the US...".

    Reason:
The Jobs Creation Act reduces tax on dividends repatriated from 35% to 5%, subject to:
    1.
limits on "how much borrowed funds can be repatriated"; and
    2.
requirement that "the funds be spent in approved developments that will create US jobs".

According to the article, both 3M and Heinz have announced that they intend repatriating funds from abroad next year. Both companies have sizeabzle Australian operations.
