Correct, also worth pointing out that after the fall of al-Andalus (Spain) in the 17th century the Jewish people returned to the Middle East with the Muslims.
They correctly knew that paying a discriminatory tax for being an infidel was far preferable to the good times the new christian rulers had planned for them.
