Yes, possible I suppose. There was a report early on, during this last incident, that the destroyer had lost steering control. I've only seen it in print once...and forget which agency/newspaper reported it...but it wasn't one of the fairies...
Also note a USN admiral said yesterday it wasn't due to a hack - so the theory, or fact, must be gaining some mileage. I wonder if they will be able to trace it back to the source - assuming it did happen. And then who it was, and how many Chinese naval craft they'll take out in revenge?
