What is the US$?Apart from being the worlds most widespread currency,it is also the unit that has to be supported for oil supplies to continue at an economical price and secure supply.Whether we like it or not that is the present case. The rapid collapse of the dollar would send the world back to the stone age as nations saw it as an unwillingness to support the US in its military operations around the world. At this point I would say that I am one the first to query many of their actions. However the alterative would be chaos and anachy.I would prefer to see a gradual decline of the dollar as it is given a less role in governments reserves. In previous times it was easier to dump a reserve currency[fiat money]as the economies of the world weren't so large and intertwined. Now it is almost impossible to turn back the clock;the energy should be spent in critical comment on the US foreign and domestic policy. This many people find too difficult because it requires giving up a bit of their standard of living.Standing up for third world nations isn't the most popular pastime.Kuwait had thoughts of diversifying out of the US$ with their wealth,Saddam was given the nod,and Kuwait learnt a very expensive lesson.Anyone contemplating going against the US had better be prepared for a lot of suffering. That is how things are and I cannot see it changing in the near future unless mankind is going to change his spots.
