There was a news article on the 6pm news about a very large shortage of eggs on the eastern seaboard at the moment an more so in NSW.... Due to new laws and recommendations being implemented by the state as to what is classed as a type of egg......ie a Caged egg and a free range egg......
Seems the producers are not ramping up the supply of eggs until this is all sorted out at the end of the year.....
They interviewed a person that sold eggs to market......an he was inside a large cooling shed ( refrigerated) about 40metres by 20 metres and he had only about 8 pallets of eggs left......stated he had two of these large storage sheds normally full of eggs. But the supply was not out there and the demand was ever increasing for eggs....
He stated the same as above the producers where reluctant to produce more till the issue on Eggs was sorted out by the specific government bodies involved....so supply was way down...
