US Ferro-silicon at $1/lb, page-15

Yes noted Red Rock Resources has taken a 16% stake in Steelmin in Bosnia. A number of years ago I think I saw the old factory when driving around Bosnia/Herzegovina. There were still so many ruins there, but definitely looks like its going ahead these days, as it looked a dump when I saw it .  Good to see it being rejuvenated.  Power/electricity price is an important factor, but however its hydro power so should do OK, especially at current ferro-silicon prices.

Even through the US indexes moved their ferrosilicon prices up over 10¢, it's still a game of catchup. Chinese prices, which appear to be driving the market, keep increasing, with domestic tags now at rmb8,500 per st and the lowest f.o.b. price was $1,790 per mt, which equates to $1.17-1.18 per lb in warehouse US. Needless to say, nothing is being exported.
Analysts say the Chinese price is a function of environmental crackdowns, higher energy costs and a shortage of good quality quartz.
In the meantime, one barge of ferrosilicon was booked at 94¢ barge bottom but that the price was submitted last week before the market really took off.
