Even politicians can be fooled, and Stalin was one of the most cunning and vile politicians of the last century.

And the West did not give him the Eastern block after WW11. He took it by duplicitous and mass murder of anyone who opposed him. Anyone with a smidgin for a brain would realise that, after two world wars that killed and wounded millions of people, Europe desperately wanted PEACE. Stalin, forever the megalomaniac,took advantage of this. Only Churchill say it coming, but Europe was sick and tired of war, and no one wanted to listen.

Would you really expect the Western powers to engage Russia, which was armed to the teeth, in another world war, immediately after the end of WW11? There would have been support for it. Zilch.

But at least the USA, with the help of its allies stopped him from bringing West Berlin under his brutal and despicable regime. And stopped millions of South Koreans, for decades, from suffering from starvation and deprivation.
