Reasons for the decisionIn the environmental permit of the Kämmenniemi wastewater treatment plant, Tampereen Vede is required to renovate the old wastewater discharge site, Mikkolanlampi. In 2017, KVVY drew up a restoration plan for the pond, which was approved by Pirkanmaa ELY Center. According to the restoration plan, the pond has been chemicalized with polyaluminum chloride three times during the years 2018-2021. Despite the reduction of the external load and the chemical treatments, the condition of the pond has not yet improved sufficiently, which is why it has been decided to continue the renovation with a different chemical.The functionality and the required dose of the Phoslock chemical have been studied with Mikkolanlammi water and sediment during the years 2021 and 2022 by KVVY Tutkimus Oy and Vesi-Eko Oy on behalf of Tampere Water.Tampereen Vesi Liikelaitos requested an offer from Mikkolanlammi's Phoslock chemical and processing from Yämpistori Ojansuut Oy. Processing will be carried out during 2023. The amount of chemicals to be used in the treatment, the more precise timing of the treatment, etc., will be agreed separately later.
