    There is also the point that if organisations decided not to replace those low skill jobs with automation they will soon be put out of business by others that will use automation. Countries try to impose tarriffs and quotas on cheap imported goods but all that ultimately causes numerous problems. Companies protected by such means become lazy and inefficient serving their own country, and lose exports to other countries that do produce more cheaply. This ultimately means less money coming in from exports and the local population pay a higher price just to keep low skilled people employed. Ultimately, everones standard of living is reduced.

    Now it is not just a simple matter of saying that those low skill workers need to be retrained to higher skilled jobs. Certainly many can but many can not for whatever reason.
