news: stop ramping and read this. Ventracor has routinely been granted a patent. This is common practice for product manufacturers for each is usually unique in its own way.

Heartware is well down the track in this area. It has been around for more than a decade in previous corporate hands before the current activity.

Heartware holds 25 current and exclusive patents including 14 in the United States , 8 in Australia and 1 in Europe protecting its fundamental technology. In Ventracor’s patents they even refer to the original inventor of Heartware’s patents.

In fact expert opinion is that it may well be that when it comes to commercialisation of its product Ventracor may in fact need access to some patents owned by Heartware.

Remember that Ventracor recently sought a cross licence for the Heartware product. Don't you wonder why!

Fact: Heartware has an ‘abundance of patents’ which appear to have earlier priority dates than Ventracor.

Fact: Heartware was the first to file on a rotary pump with an hydrodynamically suspended impeller- earlier than Ventracor’s patent titled ‘ a rotary pump with hydro-dynamically suspended impeller’.

As if that is not enough and to take it one step further in the USA the time of filing for patent does not guarantee anything where first to invent ‘supersedes patent priority’.

Nothing has happened of any significance. I am short VCR and using my profits to buy HTW.
