I don't think US groups used a different type of CBD. As said in the ann, DEA only regulates that CBD used in US needed to be from a different supplier from Oz's.
Actually, the CBD used in US demonstrated comparable good results to Oz's (inflammatory lesions: 40.4% reduction in the USA versus a 40.8% reduction in Australia). The problem is in their combined vehicle group which showed an abnormally high reduction in lesions as well. What @frisbeehead says makes sense - something wrong with the assignment of vehicles and drugs
