With the expected release of Wikileaks' founder and whistleblower Julian Assange today, I expect that there will be a lot of commentary on HC and elsewhere about his actions and character, and that this unfortunately often leads to unhelpful posturing, comments and name-calling that are an unthinking left/right divide, rather than considering the issues and nuances.
So here is a good article about the history of US Presidents' pursuit of journalists and whistleblowers who illuminated their reprehensible actions.
It is not a pretty history, across left and right wing presidents and the worst culprits may not be the ones that you would expect if you come to this issue with a left/right prejudice.
    Worth reading.
