China and other Asian nations are rapidly moving to boost domestic consumption as opposed to relying on exports. This will underpin future demand for commodities far more than a US decline (which will be gradual) will reduce demand. China expects 11.6% increase in domestic consumption this year.
I expect your shorts will do well tomorrow but suspect that those running for the door will be traders and panicky retail investors not those who are taking a strategic interest in the resource sector.
Why do you think it is that there is so much foreign ownership of these companies? Dumb Aussies don't understand what this stuff is worth - thats why.
