Unprecedented serious problem in aviation for the whole of the eastern Mediterranean viewed from planes, of which "confused" the electronic positioning systems, known as GPS. Both the Civil Aviation Authorities of Cyprus and of Turkey, have issued emergency alerts for aviation – Notam.
Specifically, as stated in the electronic edition of the cypriot newspaper Phileleftheros, the NOTAM issued by the Department of Civil Aviation of Cyprus, reg. A0356/18, reports: "Have been observed by commanders of flights in the FIR of Nicosia, the holiday of the GPS signal in some areas. The captains of aircraft operating in the FIR of Nicosia are invited to exercise caution until further information". ..."
