i have pondered this question for many years and have devised ways that a nation could destroy damascus with cases being made for israel, iran, saudi, russia, turkey etc however one country i hadnt given much though for was the us. of late however i have been regarding the us as a very possible culprit due to her presence in the area. syria could be taken out by any of the fleets especially the med fleet however it would be the death nell for those ships. if the us did strike it would have to be overwhelming in scope because of the missile systems that russia has - ss400's and 300's both of which are quite capable but for the attack to be successful there would need to be a massive influx to avoid the russians.
the trigger? the false flags of assads gassings. never mind the fact that there has been a red line drawn because of the kids however kids have been killed in many attacks without gas so why is this now a red line?
