Haha, yeah generally the person who is stumping up their own cash has a vested interest in knowing the correct names of things, whereas the person employed per hour will often be less informed of what's going on!
IIRC there is button to get upto date on pershing/commsec, but you only get 100 for free (this refreshes every time you make a trade) as such you have to click the button to select 'real time quotes'..
I think pershing only gives the top bid and ask and you don't get market depth (I could never find it). It was one of the reasons I didn't bother with US trading, as I rely on the movements in depth for timing entries.
