US, British warplanes violate Iraq airspace

Baghdad, September 5, INA

A spokesman for Iraqi Air Defense Command told INA that the U.S and British warplanes, supported by an AWACS, carried out on Wednesday 40 sorties from bases in Kuwait. The warplanes flew over Basra, Qarna, Qala’at Saleh, Amara, Artawi, Bissiya, Lassif, Jeleba, Shatra, Qala’at Suker, Samawa, Shanafiya, Ashbicha, Afek, Diwaniya, Taqtaqana, Karbala, Akhedher and al-Nakheeb.

“Iraqi missile force and anti-aircraft artillery drove the enemy planes back to their bases in Kuwait”, the spokesman added.

The spokesman said “At 1225 on the same day, the U.S and British warplanes, supported by AWACS, carried out 14 sorties from Turkish airspace, and flew over Duhok, Zakho, Aqra, Amadiya, Bebo, Rawandouz and Arbil.”

Since December 17, 1998 up to September 4, 2002, the U.S and British warplanes carried out a total of 42146 sorties from Saudi, Kuwaiti and Turkish airspace, of which 15324 sorties from Kuwaiti airspace and 9310 sorties from Turkish airspace.


They have been doing a lot of unreported attacks from the above figures.
