Japan has just raised the alert level of the nuclear disaster from 4 to 5 on the seven point scale which is on a part with Three Mile island. Given the Japanese culture that does not want to admit problems, this is a big move. They may get in under control with limited consequences but there are serious downside risks IMO.
The brother of one of my friends has just bought his family back from Tokyo - he has the ability to do his job in Sydney. I have other friends north of Tokyo who do not have that luxury so are sitting it out for now. But definitely very nervous times.
