Half a million job losses were made in January (or most likely to have been made).
According to the ADP statistics private sector job losses for the month of January were 522,000. December figures were revised to 659,000 job losses (from 693,000).
Another firm, TrimTabs Investment Research, said that the U.S. economy lost 650,000 jobs in January after shedding 683,000 jobs in December.
The official govt labour report is due out on Friday and should show around 500,000 job losses for the month of January.
