@toly. I enjoyed your post and forgive me for dropping by as a NON LYC shareholder.
Actually, LYC is a hard habit to give up, so I do keep a pulse on this board. Habits are hard to break.
For perspective, and this may be more relevant to NON US members on the HC LYC board.
It is unlawful for the U S. Government to conduct in, or own a private entity engaged in commerce, which may have a positive or negative impact on another private business or corporation, on any level, that may compete or impede on a business level against another business entity.
This was well documented in 1935, as Roosevelt's New Deal was dismantled by the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS). The NRA (National Recovery Act)which imposed price contols, the CCC (Civil Conservation Corps)which employed millions, were both effectively competing with private enterprises, which arguably saved the nation, but were consequently ruled as unlawful as these New Deal schemes were directly competing with private companies.
Since 1935, only the War Powers Act can allow the government to intervene in private business (less regulations), but that now includes a provision that allows the government to direct private companies to produce needed materials, but cannot set price or replace management. Ownership is strictly prohibited.
That is why we have absolutely no Nationalism of industry in the USA. Nixon, too, tried price control's, but were also struck down by the courts.
The USA LYC plant will be fully owned and operated by LYC, free from government meddling. Exactly as you pointed out.
I studied history and economics in school, so this stuff fascinates me.
I hope this was a useful post. GLTA.
