I detest hunting in any form. However, if that ridiculous price is genuinely going to go to future protection of the species, and if the specific animal to be shot is - as reported by ABC Radio - a very old bull not long for this life anyway, and which will be specifically designated by a guide - then my outrage is ameliorated somewhat, if not completely abated.

Given the record in Africa of funds being misused, sadly I wouldn't have too much confidence in the payment for the shoot actually being put to the use proposed. I hope my mistrust is not justified.
