What underpins the USA government?
- History?
- Control over the world's financial institutions ) ie being able to kick a country out of SWIFT)
- Military Might?
The point I am trying to get across is I believe we are in a brave new world.
If you look for information on the points above if seems that the US is being challenged on all 3.
