yes the Suez problem will cause some price rises and delays, but it shouldn't be enough to push up our inflation.
I saw the other day an explanation from a logistics company rep.
Going around South Africa would add a couple of weeks to a trip.
..but in the short term a lot of pick up and drop off bookings would have to be rearranged for containers because by changing the route ships will now be arriving at what were destination ports before what were pickup ports.
Prices for shipping forecast to go up but nowhere near as much as they did during the pandemic.
USA advise that their maritime force would operate as a patrol rather than escorting ships.
Some say that the force would be ineffective unless they strike land based facilities.
Presumably the USA mulling that option.
Also Egypt will be annoyed at losing the transit fees of ships that usually transit the Suez canal.
