I believe that. I know of countries where you can say whatever you think on all sorts of matters and no-one's gonna punish you for it. And, mind you, not all of them are Tier 1 countries....
Politicians stand for nothing these days, they are just salary-paid beaurocrats who just want to last until they retire without any 'incidents' so they get to keep all their perks. All yes-men and yes-women. Mediocrity and lack of character is abundant everywhere you look.
