the Arabs didn’t wait twenty years to retaliate. They started in May 1948 and lost. Israel gained territory as a result. So what was intended to wipe out Israel and deprive the state of a future they did two things - enlarge or and set inversion decades of war
its that which people seem to forget - as if the Palestinian response is to the encroachment - and to Israeli warmongering and refusal to accept the rules.
the reverse is true
the expansion continued following the six day war in 1967. Again Israel won and gained.
So the narratives that has Israel somehow stealing the land is misguided - it’s what you call the spoils of war - what always happens - the victor gets the land.
but the Palestinians have never given up and the presence of Israel - a Jewish state backed by Christian states is a thorn in the side of the Arab/muslim states
