OK, let's mark out the playing field!

Give us your definition of a democracy, because clearly we are talking about different animals.

"the people elect their representives" ... people also elect their representatives in Zimbabwe & Russia and countlees other countries where you'd shriek if someone called them democracies.

How does it prove your point? .... it may simply be proving that a "democracy" is a figment of or a dream of the oppressed ... ie it doesn't exist!

I find it interesting that this pro US arguement always seems to be reduced to a choice of 2 altenatives .... us & them .... reds under the beds ..... axis of evil or, well, you get it.

What's wrong with a collective conciousness that says "bugger it. ALL the current systems are defective & we want one that works equally for EVERYONE", instead of always having to pick the least rotten apple to eat.
