Thanks for the input Inchiquin, I had considered the possibility of currency and interest rates and discounted those given the price movements of other shares that I am invested in or follow. Had it been one of those I would have expected to see broader moves whereas this move seemed to be much more limited in scope.

Looking more broadly I had thought perhaps the US crop may have started hull split earlier than usual which would point to an even smaller crop size however no indication of that.

For me, I think it most likely comes down to a re-rating by brokers or short selling being unwound as the most likely culprits for yesterday's jump.
