Looks like I was spot on, 11/8/2023 saw the unwinding of a chunk of short positions:
I am not sure if today's rise was short related, to do with the potential impact of hurricane Hilary or a combination of the two.
Californian almond orchards are reaching harvest about two weeks later than usual so the wet conditions created by the hurricane will come at the worst possible time for almond growers.
