Its ironic you draw the analogy to the Hadron Collider given its Swiss location. Lets not forget the Texas based Super-conducting Super Collider (they at least avoided 'superest') in the US. A waste of $6 billion USD. A complete failure that didn't even get off the ground whilst the CERN project advances physics immeasurably beyond the capacity of most human beings to understand.
Lets hope Novartis and MSB quickly agree on the futility of working with the US medical authorities and your analogy proves to be apt with many professionally, properly orchestrated and successful EU based trials between the two.
