    Logco,
'In the early nineties the whole market was affected but banks, insurance ,building stocks and discretionary spending but exporters did ok. '

I'd expect much the same. Discretionary spending may go into freefall, as some many have huge mortgages. I see ANZ reported this week that 30% of all mortgages, that they are involved in, in WA are in stress. -more than 90 days behind. I think it is fair to say that once someone is more than 90 days behind the chances of clearing the arrears starts to feminist.

Glenworth, the mortgage insurer, reported a significant reduction in profits their last week. So the pain is starting to appear.

With the recent, small, falls in Sydney house prices, 0.7% for houses last month which is 10% PA, the pain may be starting to hit the largest market.

I'm still heavily invested in the markets, but keep an eye on the canaries in the mine. They may be starting to give an early warning, which may be correct or false.
