To a greater or lesser extent we all become forgetful with age.
As a matter of necessity, when working about God's little acres (*) I make it a rule to set myself a number of little tasks to do at one time, so that I don't end up needlessly walking a couple of hundred yards back & forth more than once. Taking all the tools I might need is another part of that.
But more & more I find I've forgotten to do the other things or one of them maybe.
OK so having recognised this I'm training myself to use the memory more. Instead of subcontracting a list to my phone I'm just trying to memorise what I have to do and calling it up. And it helps.
One of my biggest problems is remembering to shut gates. Repeatedly I'm asking myself did I shut that gate ( so the pony doesn't get out) and I'm not sure and have to go check.
I'm working on the principle that like anything else the memory needs exercise.
