In the footnote to their announcement about the $1.5 m grant Allegra had this to say:

Does anyone know if Sr-HT-Gahnite is able to be used as a 3D printing material? Perhaps this is what the $1.5m grant is going to find out.

I believe this vigorous interest has to do with Sr-HTGahnite breakthrough research/deal.
Not quite sure about 3D printing.
