The main problem with managed super is that you cannot move it between investment options at the points that are likely to be the optimum time. It is often necessary to give advance notice of several days and then not be able to make another choice for at least a week, also with several days notice. With your own fund it is possible to make instant decisions based on current information rather than having to second guess.
Fund managers will argue you are not supposed to change exposure that frequently and to some extent they have a point BUT even if you only do it infrequently it has to be done with non current data.
