From what ive read on it, it needs a lot more work to become commercial. And even more of a problem is it requires massive amounts of energy to extract it and is environmentally destructive, also emits massive amounts of co2. In a world that is increasingly worried about global warming the future seems to be a bit shaky. Im not an expert but as yet have not read anything that makes it sound feasible.
