    Actually the power companies have a rather perverse incentive to keep pouring money into grid infrastucture. Electricity charges are determined to allow them a specified rate of return on their assets. There are hearings going on at the moment. The more money that they propose to invest the higher the electricty charges.

    Oh and there is a further reason for them to game the system. If they manage to achieve the grid upgrades for a lower cost than originally estimated they get to pocket the difference (by still charging for electricty at the higher rate based on the origianl estimate).

    They will be fighting tooth and nail to prevent disruptive technolgy such as Blugen from being taken-up.
