Not even close. Life is not designed. Life evolves in relation to environment, each species evolving within its niche, developing attributes and abilities as a means of not only surviving, but thriving.
What we see here are the limitations of the process....mice did not evolve in a paradise of plenty, hence they cannot cope. A certain percentage do adapt. They are the survivors of the experiment, they can cope.
