The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) alleges Mr Bowen disposed of 5.6 million Vocus shares on Tuesday, 4 June 2019. Shares closed at $4.58 that day, with the company informing the market at 6.50pm the offer had been withdrawn. The next morning shares dropped 17.7 per cent to $3.77.Mr Bowen’s block of 5.6 million shares was worth $25.7 million on the day he sold them, but would have been worth $21.2 million the next day, a decline of $4.5 million in value.
A committal hearing is scheduled for 7 December.
