2 mines with a huge future are GRY and AMX. Both hold tenements and deposits of gold in B. Faso West Africa. At first glance they look similar.... but are they and which stk offers better value? Here's my opinion:
firstly disclosure: I hold shares in both companies weighted 45:55 towards AMX.
Similarities: Both mines have: gold oxide deposits(hence cheap to extract when compared with sulphides), shallow deposits mostly below 100m, deposits open in several directions, have reasonable access to water and power, similar labour costs, time to start of production, overall grade. Resource size/mkt cap. GRY 1.5m ozs @2.2g. MCap 413m=$275/oz. AMX 1.2m at2.2g. MCap 486m=$405/oz. So at first glance GRY is cheaper stk. based on value.
Differences: Depth.... generally speaking much of Ampella's strikes are nearer to surface. Some of GRY's best finds are over 100m deep. AMX often has rich grades within 20-30m of surface. Seam widths.... AMX widths generally are much wider. Comparing individual grades within pockets... AMX's best grades consistently better than those of GRY e.g. where GRY has 5m at 5.3g AMX has 10.5m at 10g. Where GRY can match Ampella's grade.... latter has double the seam width. consistency.... AMX has occasions where every drill hole has struck gold, . As POG varies... so can mine alter the ore-type to suit. This helps ensure consistent level of earnings. Hence, Ampella can quickly earn cash crushing richer ore extracted from near to surface in large quantaties. AMX has exc high quality ground pegged (1800 sq. kms of contiguous holding locking-up 110km of shear zone) with 13 virgin prospects waiting to be drilled.
Conclusion: I am not intending to buy more of either company at current prices. In event of a fall in SP, I will top-up in AMX rather than GRY. Buy am not selling my GRY as both have good potential.
PS. A not disimilar situation exists in another commodity namely RE. When looking at rare earths(RE) its crucial to look at over grade of ore. Most RE companies have tables detailing the make-up of the 8-10 RE metals within the RE congromulate. That is relevent as individual RE metals vary massively in price and there are some modest variations in RE composition between mines. BUT there are HUGE differences in the total amount of RE congromulate within the overall ore-body. For example one RE firm have RE composing 14%. The others are well under half that amount at 1.5-3.5% total RE. Obviously the mining costs will be vastly different.
PPS. I don't subscribe to gold nerds but am interested to hear how the compare GRY and AMX. DYOR as mine is FAR from complete.
