The super industry is a much more expensive way to fund retirement incomes than the pension system, the fact that retirement funds can be lost or stolen from people at the end of their working lives and then have to rely on the pension system to live, funds perform differently and IMO many people will not get the retirement they think they will, the whole system has become too complicate for most people.I have an old work fund and a SMSF and I do take an interest in super and shares but by no means an expert but I have massively out performed the funds and now net much more than I grossed when I was working.
The rich are the biggest beneficiaries of the super system not the people on lower incomes because tax refunds and tax foregone by the government go mostly back to rich people who can rearrange their tax affairs to pay no tax.
