NZ health dept decided not to vaccinate as they thought great majority would have already been exposed by time vacc available- not bad thinking considering that 30% of sf infections are silent (no symptoms) treatment with antivirals within the first 24 hrs leads to very rapid recovery in many i know almost next day - buta virologist i asked about immunity levels was sceptical that enough antibody protection would be produced under those circumstances to rendour immunity to mutated virus depending on how much it mutates.but same could be said for vaccines- makes more sense for nth hem vacc than sth now but south should be preparing to start vacc prod as soon as mutated form shows up - till then increase stockpiles anti virals imo
