"While the Government has made clear that AstraZeneca is safe for those over 50, going so far as to bring forward their eligibility date, just 40% of people aged 50–69 said they are currently willing to get either vaccine."
I think it stands to reason that those under 40 will be even less likely because the virus barely affects them.
I listened to Dr. Norman Swan on ABC radio earlier this evening. He spoke so well. I was actually expecting the same old propaganda...just get the jab etc etc. Couldn't have been further from the truth. He sounded very concerned. One caller rang in explaining her 30yo. aged care worker daughter's Bells Palsy like symptom 24hrs after second jab. He emphasised numerous times the importance of reporting adverse effects. He also stated everyone need to weigh up the risk and benefits. Just getting the jab is not a blanket solution.
He agreed with the Qld CHO that the risk/benefit analysis of giving AZ to under 40 did not stand up in most cases. He even stated that he would not recommend his 30something y.o. daughters take it. Simply not worth even the small risk of clotting compared with the minute benefit for that age group, given that very few even need hospitalisation and none have died.
