For reference, HPV 16 and 18 are the “big bads” of human papillomaviruses - present in about 80% of all cervical cancers. To have gone from 15% of the young female population to zero - zero - recorded cases in 16-18 year olds is just amazing. To top it off, the data here come from young ladies coming in specifically asking to be tested for STDs - that is, representative of the most at-risk population. It’s starting to look like the major cause of cervical cancer could be wiped out completely.
