I'm not even sure they specifically are shorting though, I know people who short (myself included every now and then) and I've never met a "dumb" shorter. There are barriers to being able to short, especially in Australia, such as income and wealth.
These people like backdoor are certainly not intelligent, and tbh they don't seem to have any sort of knowledge of financial markets at all. I hate to come up with "conspiracy theories) but I suspect they are operating in third world countries and are being paid to target specific companies. Like I said though, who knows what their intentions are but it's definitely weird how they all are the same in terms of apparently lacking any financial knowledge (and lacking intelligence for the most part as well!)
