also here is some valuable lessons i've learnt from investing in vpg.


1. never catch a falling knife

2. never buy stocks with 1.6 BILLION shares on issue. these stocks become a paradise for day traders.

3. never buy stocks that the media seems to hate. false and misleading reports (such as that published in the weekend afr) have the effect of destroying confidence and rattling investors.

4. if you want to invest in the REIT sector, look for "quiet" gems. take a look at mdt for instance. similar price and NTA to vpg, but no media "noise", not as much manipulation and day trading and far less stressful than investing in vpg.

5. stay away from any stock with overhang. when a company will raise capital, at a "price to be agreed", the sp will simply plummet until further clarity is given.

6. stay away from stocks where the directors are acting in their own interests instead of shareholder interests.


so while vpg may appear cheap, there are many other reits out there just as cheap, and far less volatile.
