VALE YOKKA

While we have some quiet time , I wish to let you know that our highly regarded UNS posting colleague , Yokka , passed away yesterday ( 1/1/15) following a near 2 year cancer journey.
Many of you will have read his very clever posts , given him a thumbs up or, alternatively scratched your head thinking ...” What the hell did Yokka just say ?”
Either way , it doesn’t matter ,Yokka got a lot of enjoyment from reading and contributing to the UNS thread , always with a sense of humour , always in good taste and always in the spirit of engendering debate and generating knowledge that may be helpful to us , as investors in UNS .
No doubt many of the long-termers will recall Yokka’s most famous post : you know , the one in which he described himself as the passenger in a car which had the windows blacked out so he couldn’t see out , but Big Al was the driver , vividly describing how good the scenery looked along the way .It all sounded fantastic .Yokka's only problem ; he couldn’t see what Al could see , at that time !
As the thumbs up piled on , he was really chuffed that so many of you agreed with the message he was delivering .
I guess Yokka’s several year journey with UNS is somewhat reflective of that travelled by many of you .He was passionate about its success , but had to endure the harsh reality of vacillating between “ it’s the next Apple or Microsoft “ and “ it’s a scam ” .
Yokka’s dream was to be around long enough to enjoy the fruits that are to flow from his investment in UNS .He certainly was comfortable that UNS is going to be a huge success .
Unfortunately fate decided that would not be here to see that.However , all is not lost , as Yokk took a great deal of comfort knowing that his investment would pay off handsomely for his wife .A few weeks ago he told me “ Tell my wife not to sell my UNS shares under any circumstances .”
It may seem trite , but Yokka gained a hell of a lot of enjoyment from the cut and thrust on HC and it was the subject of thousands of phone calls and discussions between us over several years .
I pass on Yokka’s thanks to you all for making that possible .
Yokk was a highly intelligent man , a dentist by profession and in his late 60s .
In that context , he always appreciated the input of our highly articulate colleague Writer .In some ways , the respect in which he held Writer , gave rise to an on-going “battle of wits” with Writer . Nothing sinister , nothing malicious , just the intellectual stimulation associated with matching wits with Writer ....a poster he considered a worthy opponent in that “battle” .
One of his favourite sayings to me was ..” I’ve got Writer on the ropes now !” lol
Both believed in the same end result ......in reality it was a joust between “facts” and “ faith “.
Truth be known , it was only Writer’s faith that made the UNS journey ( thus far) possible for both Yokka and me .It would have been just too hard without some of those insights that encourage you to plough on .
No need to be sad , Yokka knew his fate , for some time . Just remember him for his positive contribution to the UNS thread and the belly – laughs that many of his posts .
Just remember ,there is a human story behind every post on HC .
A final message from Yokka ..”Uni is going to be a major success !”
