    But of course it raises the question of why "Did someone inside CTP" agree to sign the contract with such a clause in it.

    Even a first year law student would know that you cant agree to an illegal act, so I can only think one of two things

    1) either some one did not properly read the contract( negligence)

    2) or they did read it and saw that clause and could not or did not bother to have it removed ( desperate to sign the contract on any terms)

    Perhaps both. I lean towards no 2.
