I like Dan's idea better. with active traders, as long as they average about 2 trades/month, then trader growth would be very accurate in measuring growth. (trader growth is a leading factor for trade growth, not the other way around).
Also, large portion of SWF revenue comes from account interest, meaning they generate revenue when users are not trading.
The business model is brilliant, and user growth measure is the best method to evaluate its performance.
