Jack's mistake has been to keep throwing crumbs to the piranhas in the Not Held pond. I have no idea what motivates them, but it certainly isn't a philanthropic urge to educate the (in their eyes) irredeemably ignorant losers who continue to hold Magellan. Could it be nothing more than a desire for vindication?
