The approved subsidised nanny scheme will not suit everyone, but it will be a welcomed option for others. It is increasing the flexibility of access to childcare. Unsure of how it would be managed, but possibly through a main agency, those nannies will have the same qualifications as educators in centres and will all be subject to the same police and working with children checks. Some parents have neither the good fortune or the choice of working 9 to 5, but they have the right to be active participants in the workforce and their children have the right to be cared for and have their developmental needs met in a setting of their choice.
Flexibility, access and cost factors were the main issued raised from participants in the submission.
The government has admitted that the $7 billion injected into childcare in unsustainable and are now moving forward with fairer options for all.
Both corporate and private childcare now need to find a solution to ensure that what they are offering is meeting the needs of children and families or parents will seek other proposed options. Those who manage to achieve this will be rewarded with high occupancy.
Lets see who meets the challenge head on and provides a service that meets the needs of children, provides flexible care for working parents and delivers a healthy dividend to shareholders.
